Tresco House can be found off the A346 in the village of Ogbourne St Andrew.

Approach from M4

Leave the M4 at Junction 15 and head south on the A346 towards Marlborough. After 6 miles you will enter the village indicated by the 30MPH sign. Silks on the Downs public house appears on your right, and Tresco House is the 6th house on the right hand side after the pub. Please slow right down as the entrance to the property is through large green gates immediately after the bus shelter. The gates are automated and will open on approach.

Approach from Marlborough

Leave town on the A346 towards Swindon. After 1.5 miles you will enter Ogbourne St Andrew. After 100 yards there is a long stretch of fence on your left, the next house (large old red brick property side on to the road) is Tresco House. Please drive past the house and enter the second set of green gates on your left. The gates are automated and will open on approach.

Introduction

Tresco House aims to cater for the needs of all visitors to our home in Ogbourne St Andrew. The separate Courtyard Cottage can either be for Bed and Breakfast or entirely Self Catering and the Coach House for Self Catering only. Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

  • On arrival at Tresco House there are ample car parking facilities for three cars at the rear of the property in the courtyard adjacent to the self catering properties.
  • Further Car Parking is available at the front of Tresco House if required.
  • Both entrances to the property are accessed via large green automated gates which will open upon approach and close behind you.
  • We can assist guests with their luggage.

Main Entrance and Reception

  • Entrance to the main house is from the Car park by a single door. There is a small step up into the house.
  • On arrival there will always be someone to greet our guests and to show them to their rooms.
  • Reception Hall has a wall mounted bell, please ring heartily!.
  • The Reception Hall floor is level and carpeted.

Wifi and Internet

These facilities are free and available with a security code connection.

Outdoor Facilities

There is a private garden area.

Pre arrival

  • Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.
  • We normally ask guests to arrive between 4pm and 7pm. Earlier or later arrival may be possible by arrangement.
  • We are located in the village of Ogbourne St Andrew on the A346.
  • There are bus stops within 10 metres affording an hourly service between Marlborough (5 minutes) and Swindon (15 minutes)
  • Heathrow International Airport is 60 mins away by car.
  • Local taxi service is available, if required. We are very happy to make a booking for you.

Wheelchairs

    Unfortunately the format of the accommodation at Tresco House is not wheelchair friendly.

Breakfast Room

  • Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor of the main house.
  • Menus can be provided on request.
  • Floors are carpeted.
  • We do not play background music in any area of the property.

The Courtyard Cottage

  • This secure unit has its own Front door and can be accessed from the courtyard parking area. There is further access to the main house through a lockable Fire Door.
  • The Courtyard Cottage has been newly renovated throughout.
  • It comprises Sitting room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and private courtyard.
  • Breakfast can be provided on request, for a supplement.

Accessed via a front door into an entry hall. There is one small step into the property and a further slight step down into the lounge area.

From the entry hall a step up leads into the inner hall. The kitchen and bathroom are on the same level and lead off of the inner hall.

Cottage lounge

The Lounge is 3.5m (max) long x 3.5m (max) wide with door leading to the double bedroom. It contains a leather sofa, leather foot stool/table, 3 wooden chairs, gate leg dining table, console table and television.

Bedroom

  • The double bedroom is 3.5m by 3.5m, carpeted and on the same level as the lounge area.
  • It contains a double bed with access from both sides. The bedding is 100% Egyptian cotton sheet and duvet. Extra pillows and a blanket are provided.
  • A hairdryer is in the room.
  • Furniture includes a console/dressing table with wall mounted mirror over, bedside cabinet, pine wardrobe with shelving, hanging space and drawer below, a bedroom chair and  2 table lamps.

Bathroom

  • The bathroom contains a bath with shower over, WC and handbasin. There is a wall mounted mirror and towel rail.
  • Luxury Shampoo, Body wash, Hand and Body Lotion and Liquid Soap are provided.
  • Fluffy towels and Dressing gowns provided.
  • Kitchen

  • The kitchen has a feature antique pine welsh dresser which houses all the cutlery, crockery and glassware.
  • Appliances include a built in oven and electric hob, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster and kettle.
  • There is a sink and ample worktop.
  • The kitchen floor is newly laid vinyl .
  • Cleaning products and drying up cloths are provided.
  • There is a fire extinguisher in the kitchen .
  • Iron and ironing board and vacuum cleaner available upon request.

The Coach House

  • This secure unit has its own Front door and can be accessed from the courtyard parking area.
  • The Coach House has been newly renovated throughout.
  • It comprises Sitting room, kitchen, ground floor bedroom, first floor bedroom, reading area, shower room and use of private garden area.

Accessed via a front door into an entry hall that measures 1.6m x 1.2m. There is one small step into the property and a further step up into the main living area.

Open plan living area

  • The living space measures 4.2m x 5m. The kitchen area is at the far end and measures 1.6m x 2.8m. The majority of the ground floor is oak flooring with rugs.
  • There is a comfortable sofa bed, further leather sofa, bench seat and button backed upholstered chair arranged around a coffee table for lounging. The mahogany topped dining table has four sturdy painted chairs (2 more are available if needed). Table lamps and three side tables.

Kitchen area

  • The kitchen is fitted with quality painted solid wood cabinets, sleek black sink and ample worktop space.
  • Appliances are stainless steel finish and include a double oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge with freezer box, Gaggia coffee maker, toaster and kettle.
  • A free standing butchers block is available for extra worktop and wine storage.
  • All cutlery, crockery, glassware and cookware is supplied.
  • Dishcloths and cleaning equipment is supplied.
  • There is a fire extinguisher in the kitchen mounted on the wall.

Ground floor bedroom

Take a step down from the living area into this delightful bedroom with views over the garden.

  • King size bedstead with orthopaedic mattress (very comfortable we are assured) with access from both sides. Two bedside tables with extending table lamps to position over the bed for reading.
  • Wardrobe hanging space.
  • Full length mirror.
  • The bedding is 100% Egyptian cotton sheet and duvet. Extra pillows and a blanket are provided.
  • A hairdryer is in the room.

Inner hallway

There is an inner hallway off the living area leading to the shower room and staircase access to the first floor rooms. There are 11 stairs to the first floor.

An under stairs cupboard houses the water tank, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, broom and ironing board.

Shower room

  • Large walk in power shower, WC and antique marble washstand and basin.
  • Wall mounted mirror.
  • Heated towel rail.
  • Decorative bust and stand.
  • Luxury shampoo, body wash, hand and body lotion and liquid soap are provided.
  • Fluffy towels and dressing gowns provided.

Landing area/reading room

The staircase opens into this area and the space has been designated a quiet space for reading or listening to music. Foldaway beds could be positioned here for occasional use for children – please enquire. Sloping ceilings into roof eaves. There is a step up into the bedroom.

First floor bedroom

The ceilings slope here into the roof space. The centre of the room has ample head space (accommodates a person 6’3’ in height). Care needs to be taken either side of the bed and leaving the room as you step down onto the landing area.  LED lighting highlights the low mantle when the door is open.

  • Two bedside cabinets with cupboard and drawer space.
  • Two bedside lamps.

  • Luggage stand.

Additional Information

  • Assistance dogs can be accommodated.
  • Mobile phone and Blackberry reception is variable, depending on provider. 
  • All buildings have a strict no smoking policy. Smoking is allowed in the Courtyard and in the garden.
  • Smoke detectors will beep continuously in the event of an emergency.
  • If you require more assistance for evacuating the building (e.g. hearing impairment) please notify us on arrival, and we will ensure that you are evacuated safely.
  • A First Aid Box is located in our kitchen.

  • Numerous independent butchers and Saturday market in Marlborough.
  • Waitrose, Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets are located in Marlborough (1 mile).
  • Swindon is 15 minutes by car.
  • Newbury is 25 minutes by car.
  • Great Western Designer Outlet Village at Swindon (20 minutes by car).
  • Three Trees Farm Shop (5 minutes by car).

Hours of Operation: Tresco House is our home. Within reason, we are available 24/7.
